Pipe Bursting in Sacramento, CA

Pipe bursting replaces a damaged or undersized pipe entirely without excavation. We pull a new HDPE pipe through the old one while a bursting head simultaneously fractures the old pipe outward into the surrounding soil. The result is a brand-new pipe in the same path, with no trenching required except for small access pits at each end. Pipe bursting works for sewer laterals, water mains, and storm lines. It's ideal when the existing pipe is too far gone for lining but you want to avoid the cost and disruption of full excavation.

Signs You Need Pipe Bursting

  • A camera inspection showed the pipe is too deteriorated or misaligned for lining — large sections collapsed, severe root crushing, or major joint offset
  • The sewer lateral is old clay or Orangeburg pipe that has crumbled — it has no structural integrity left to support a liner
  • Ground above the sewer line has developed a noticeable sinkhole or persistent soft, wet area in the yard
  • You need to upsize the pipe — for example going from a 4-inch to a 6-inch lateral as part of an addition or remodel
  • Your sewer lateral failed a required inspection and the municipality is requiring full replacement

Why Choose Us

Full Pipe Replacement

New HDPE pipe with a 50+ year lifespan in the same path — not a repair of the existing pipe.

Can Upsize Diameter

We can install a larger pipe than what was there — useful for additions, ADUs, or originally undersized laterals.

Only Two Small Access Pits

One at each end of the run. No trench across the yard, no cutting up the driveway between the access points.

Works Where Lining Can't

The right call when the existing pipe is too deteriorated or misaligned to accept a liner.

HDPE Pipe

Corrosion-proof, root-resistant, joint-free from end to end. Handles Sacramento's clay soil movement without cracking.

Camera-Verified Installation

We camera the new pipe before backfilling. You see the clean result before we close the pits.

How It Works

1

Camera inspection and pipe locating

We camera the full pipe length and use a locating wand to mark the pipe's path and depth above ground. This tells us exactly where to excavate the two access pits and confirms the pipe's route hasn't shifted unexpectedly.

2

Excavate two small access pits

We dig a pit at each end of the run — entry near the cleanout and exit near the city main connection. These pits are typically 3–4 feet wide. No trenching between them.

3

Pull the bursting head

A hydraulic machine pulls a steel bursting head through the old pipe, fracturing it outward into the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling the new HDPE pipe in behind it. The old pipe is destroyed; the new pipe takes its place.

4

Connect, test, and camera-confirm

The new HDPE pipe is connected at both ends, flow-tested at full capacity, and camera-inspected to verify the installation. You see the clean interior of the new pipe on camera before we backfill.
